A terrifying manananggal, a vampire-like creature, is haunting Biringan, and MJ soon discovers that she herself is the monster terrorizing her kingdom…
After waking up covered in blood and realizing the monster within, MJ decides to flee to Mount Makiling with a select group of her court, desperately trying to keep her curse a secret. Among her companions are Lucas, the knight who broke her heart, and Prince Qian, a charming monster hunter from the Jade Empire on a diplomatic mission.
As MJ wrestles with her bloodthirst and the chaos it brings, she finds herself torn between her lingering feelings for Lucas and the growing bond with Prince Qian... But, with a neighboring kingdom threatening war, MJ must put her personal struggles aside to save her people and break the curse before it consumes her entirely.
