Winter Chic
It's only fun when you 'visit' winter
Our kid is now living on the East Coast and said “Mom, do people know they don’t have to live this way?” as in, the cold is optional! For Angelenos of course. What she doesn’t know is that the rest of the world thinks of us LA people as the ones living in LA LA LAND because in the rest of the world there is winter. In LA, winter is something we visit when we go to the mountains. It is not part of our daily life.
So it was fun to go to NYC and try out some winter outfits!

We got stuck in NYC during the blizzard and couldn’t fly home to then fly out to Cabo. SADNESS BOWL! (Did you ever see the Patton Oswalt set where he talks about the KFC chicken bowl which is like mashed potatoes and chicken and he calls it a sadness bowl coz it’s like so gross but you still want to eat it and it’s just a bowl of sadness so in my family we don’t say that’s sad we say SADNESS BOWL!)
But we made the most of it.
New York was so pretty with all the snow. I refused to leave the hotel but then had to because my bags were in LA and I had no clothes. So I braved the snow and went to H&M.
I was in NYC for work, to do the Book of the Month podcast that I will link to once it’s up! It was so so so fun. Every time we go back to the city we wonder why we don’t live there anymore. Then we come home to LA and it’s 75 degrees and sunny and then we don’t wonder anymore. LA is awesome. It’s not New York. It’s more like… Rome? As in people don’t really like new things here. LA is the Ivy, Dan Tana’s, Sunset Tower, the Beverly Hills Hotel. New York is whatever is hot and new and LA is old classics where you eat at the same three restaurants for the rest of your life and you love it. Also, tacos. And sushi.
Anyway, wherever you are, hope you are keeping warm. Finally mailed out the Penguin Teen box winner! And now cranking out the goodie mailings for paid subscribers which should be next week. Next week on the ‘stack: a deleted scene from Rings of Fate!!!!
Bye bye!
XOXO

I grew up in Buffalo, NY, then moved to Georgia. I do miss a little bit of snow, but not the blizzards. We had a taste of real winter here last weekend, where the low was 15 degrees with ice. Brrrr! Looks like you enjoyed your visit to NYC.
I absolutely loved your winter outfit! So stylish!
